Preceding the release of Joyride, three US number-one singles - The Look, Listen To Your Heart and It Must Have Been Love - and other big hits like Dressed For Success and Dangerous had rapidly made the duo Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle a worldwide pop phenomenon. The beauty of Roxette is that the duo of Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson can do practically anything in terms of Top 40 music. Thinking the uptempo track would be too risky, the label recommended the ballad 'Spending My Time' as the first single for the US.
